the name lowercase was born from the kind of day we’d call a lowercase day: a day meant to be slow, unplanned, and lightly held...where you go with the flow, follow what feels good, and let your whims set the pace. 
it’s a day with an un-hurried cadence that trades an uppercase daily routine for personal respite...where delight comes just as easily from a nap under a tree, flying a kite, the thrift-store mug you rescued or from a splurge-filled day...it’s delight in the little things and space to savor them.

lowercase ranch is a 159-acre property tucked into moon mountain, above Sonoma.

for over 40 years this was a Christmas tree farm of up to 30,000 trees. during the 2017 fires, the fire department clear-cut trees to stage and help protect the town of Sonoma. you’ll see the remnants of this fire burnt into the wooden posts and trees on the outskirts of the ranch.

the property and the surrounding hills are full of wine country history. the closest vineyard is Monte Rosso to the South - the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon in the nation - with Repris and Mountain Terraces adjacent to the East and North.

stories and places to explore are tucked all across the ranch: Prohibition-era winemaking, Hooker Creek winding through the valley, the spring-fed cave, and a small piece of neighboring vineyard land tied to a handshake wine arrangement.
